Lucy Slessor
Artistic Director and Co-founder

Lucy has a huge passion for the arts, especially in immersive performance and film. A playwright, writer, music journalist, director, and performer, Lucy has a varied and rich background in theatre, film, and art. She has adored film from a very young age and has a particular passion for experimental, folk horror, and silent film. She wrote her first show after developing a chronic pain condition and being housebound for nearly a year. She believes that artistic freedom, in all its many forms (especially film), can act as both a therapeutic aid and a means of communication about subjects that are often very little explored.

Lucy believes that Dissected Cinema is both an essential and powerful tool to aid in the above and for film lovers to explore and enjoy together. ‘Community is essential; without it, we are nothing. Film gives us the chance to come together and enjoy ourselves in a community setting that is safe and friendly, while giving us a chance to ignite conversations and meet new people.
